Tour de Peppermint

A pretty shitty ride all the way around. This one started in Southlake went through Keller, Hazlet, Justin, Flowermound and Roanoke. They couldnt have picked more heavily travel and just plain rotten roads. The ride took us on FM156, 377, 407 and 1171.

The registration was ok. Nathan, Rico, Babs and I were the only MBBC member to show. I decided that since I really hadn’t ridden much after my wreck that I would do the 40 mile with Rico and Nathan. My plans changed about 3 miles into the ride.

Rico and Nathan dropped me pretty quick, so I decided to make my own route. I did a variation of the 40 and 70 mile routes. Traffic Control was Good for the first 5 miles, but after that we were on our own. The rest stops were hit and miss... and I mean that literally! The first one was at about mile 15, exiting it was a trick. The second stop, that was supposed to be at mile 40, was missing! The third stop, at Mile 50 was ok.... except for the fact that the cheerleaders working the stop, were eating all of the cookies and cliff bars. The last part of the ride from 170 to Dove rd to Carroll Ave was the best part of the ride.

The terrain was decent, plenty good inclines. For the first half of the ride we had a nice 12 mph headwind, with higher gusts early on, and Temps was right at 75.

My total mileage was just over 60 miles, with and ave. Speed of 15.30 mph

by far the worst ride of the year..

Afterwards I meet up with Nathan and we had lunch at Po' Melvin’s.
